Shoulder problems come from chronic pain from rotator cuff injuries and arthritis of joints of the shoulder disables millions of Americans. Certain types of shoulder joint problems including certain tendon problems and ligamentous injuries may not be amenable to cell therapy. It is important to evaluate each individual case to assess likelihood of success with attempting regenerative therapy. We have developed a shoulder joint SVF deployment protocol that attempts to exploit the anti-inflammatory and healing effects of SVF (rich in mesenchymal stem cells and growth factors). SVF is injected using local anesthesia into the affected joint and radiographic imaging techniques are often used to ensure accuracy. This is all done as an outpatient at the time of SVF harvesting and procurement. The entire procedure takes approximately 3 hours.
Stem cells are tiny ancestral cells found in our body that can divide and change into various cell types. Your stem cells are your body’s natural healing cells and can act as your own personal repair system in your body by replenishing adult tissues. They are also the source of all the cell that die. There are two broad types of stem cells: embryonic stem cells, and adult stem cells. For our purposes we do not utilize embryonic stem cells, we magnify on the usage of adult stem cells and bone marrow stem cells.body where it is most needed. Bone marrow stem cells can be used for similar functions.
